This is such a sad story. I was thinking the same thing Lisa, Stem Cells may be the hope for Nick. Fortunately, most of us don't know what it is like to experience this type of tragedy. It is stories like this that truly saddens me.

That is really interesting! I guess Hollywood wasn't lying to us in movies such as True Lies, where Arnold gets his eye scanned to gain access to the top secret government offices...

That is so very sad. I hope they find a cure before it is too late for Nick! What about stem cell research? I bet that's where the cure lies...

Beth:
I spoke with a Transitions representative at the Iowa Optometric Association's Annual Congress this past weekend (March 27, 2010). At this time there is no plan to incorporate Transitions technology into contact lenses. I agree that this would be a great idea. I do not know of any other companies working on dark sunglass-like contact lenses. At one time, Nike had amber- and grey-colored contacts for outdoor enthusiasts, but has since discontinued production.

Hi,

Let me share my story about Iowa EyeCare with you. It may help you make a better decision about where you want to do business.

I’m from Marion, Iowa, and I had my first eye exam when I was in elementary school after failing a screening. My parents took me to Iowa EyeCare. Honestly, I don’t remember much about my first exam, but I do recall getting my glasses. It was amazing. For the first time in my life I could see clearly and I can still remember my drive home from Iowa EyeCare's Marion location. I couldn’t believe what I had been missing.

Over the next few years and through high school I had regular eye exams at Iowa EyeCare in Marion. I experienced first-class professionalism and the personal touch that the Iowa EyeCare doctors and staff invest with each and every patient. In junior high I started wearing contact lenses. It took me multiple hour-long sessions for me to learn how to take the lenses in and out of my eyes. The Iowa EyeCare staff was always patient and supportive. Later on, I learned how not to wear contact lenses, when I suffered from an eye infection. The on-call doctor came to the office on a Sunday morning to manage my mistake. The eye-drops he gave me made me feel better instantly and I will forever be grateful.

Now, as an optometrist I get to return the favors. I truly enjoy my job: helping people with their eyes and vision. It is more rewarding than I could have imagined. Working at Iowa EyeCare has only enhanced my positive opinion of the practice. Everyone at Iowa EyeCare cares as deeply as I do for the well-being of our patients. Iowa EyeCare is a place of integrity, dedicated to the quality of its products and services and I am proud to be a part of it.
